KOCHI

Today we had to say our last goodbye to the group as some of us kept going south to Kerala together and the rest either went back home or headed on a different direction.
Aura, our CEO, only does tours in Northern India so he also said goodbye and the group had to fly solo to Kochi. Somehow I ended up being the CEO for this journey (maybe because I'm so responsible! Haha) and made sure that we stuck together as a group. Being a CEO came with some challenges like being screamed at by one of the group within the first 3 mins because she needed to "take a shit!"... Literally! She screamed it as if nobody else was around and not thinking it was rude to scream in a place full of people surrounding us (even with no people around... Screaming that is nowhere near appropriate!) It was so embarrassing, but it did make me move people into the line and start entering the airport. We all had to rush to say goodbye to Lisa and Sebastian so she could go to but once we were in she had realized it was just a cramp and didn't have to go! Good thing I'm used to dealing with children and have high tolerance for people but it did get me thinking about "treating others as you like to be treated" and how much of an impact this has in social interactions and the way people respond to you.

The rest of the trip went smoother even though two more people were sick.
G adventures had booked our Kochi flight with a layover which wasted our whole day. What usually takes 1.5 hrs in  a direct flight took us 7.5  with all the waiting around at airports and ended up being a 10 hour journey from the time we left the hotel in Goa until we reached the meeting place with our group in kochi.
Our very small plane

The next day before heading to Alleppey we went for a walk in fort Kochi and experienced the Chinese fishing nets

The way they fish here in kerala is very interesting.  A huge net is hanging from 10m. high and it gets lowered to get some fish. The most interesting part is that huge rocks are suspended from ropes in the platform and that's how the net can go down (I'm terrible at explaining how things work!)
Here you can see the rocks

Here's what they caught earlier

On our way back to the hotel we saw some men working in construction... So incredible how they can work with their skirts!
