MUMBAI

Arrived in Mumbai mid afternoon and Unfortunately we only had half a day to see the city. Spending so little time in Mumbai is probably the one thing that I didn't like about the itinerary for this trip (other than 4:45 am departures) but I guess I just have to come back! :-)

Aura had planned taxi "tours" for us for the afternoon. This was far for a tour, it was more like "here's a temple... Go take a picture, come back to taxi" We didn't get much information about the places we visited but it was fun and we got to see a little bit of the city!

This was my first time looking at the metros that have the doors open and people are riding half in and half out!

A regular building in Mumbai... Clothes drying in the balcony

Our flowery taxi

I think they were trying to fish...
... All they caught was "garbage"?!?!

Relaxing... Mumbai style!

The building with the dome is apparently the most expensive hospital in Mumbai and if we got the info right it's only for Muslims

We quickly stopped at JainTemple
They have very strict rules for tourists

We stopped at a local park with a great view of Mumbai and decided to take a selfie with Jud, Lisa, and Sebastian!
The tower here is the most expensive house in Mumbai! Apparently it has 57 floors and in the garage the owner has about one thousand cars! I don't know if any of this is true but if it is it would be totally crazy! We could barely understand our drivers broken english but he said that the owner said he was building apartments and that's how he got a building permit. Once when it was done he had constructed his house and he had to pay a high fine but was ok to keep it.
It's just insane how people can live having this kind of life and house in Mumbai (or any part of the world) I just truly hope this family is helping their neighbors, the people from the slums!

This is the laundromat of Mumbai! People and business send their clothes to be washed here and people wash them the Indian way! Meaning they band the clothes against the concrete.

Here is probably the most beautiful train station I have seen
(And some government building)

Then we went to see the sunset

And finally for a quick slum walk

The chicken shop
Christmas lights in the slums
People playing some kind of board game (looked like gambling to me)

Ended the tour by the Gate of India
Group shot :-)
The Taj Palace Hotel ( or something like that)
Beautiful carriage

Our time in Mumbai was short but fun nonetheless! I guess I just have to come back and explore it a little more :-)
