PUSHKAR

Our next stop in Rajasthan was Pushkar. This holly city curls arounds a holly lake that supposedly appeared after Brahma dropped a lotus flower. Legend says that Brahma lied to shiva and so his punishment was a curse that he would have no temple. Another legend was that Brahma created a female deity, Shatarupa, and he became infatuated with her to the point that Brahma created five heads to keep an eye on her all the time. This angered  Shiva and he cut one of Brahma's head off and he directed that there be no proper workship for this unholy Brahma! So, Brahma doesn't have temples but one in Pushkar.. Which I didn't visit since I got there too late and it was closed :-/

Pushkar's Main Street is a long bazaar and very touristy! It was a really nice city although we got a lot of men trying to get our attention.
We spent the two days just walking around, shopping and enjoying the town

Our first taste of Pushkar was this man dancing to the beat of drums

The holly lake where Hindus bathe and wash their souls to get rid of their sins:

Pushkar had lots and lots of cows roaming through the bazaar; one must be very careful when walking around!

Colors meant for the festival holi or for rangoli decorations

Lots of jewelry! Found this cool namaste!

I was trying to take a picture of a women selling vegetables when this man stopped in the middle of the road and started to feed the cows

Pushkar... Land of monkeys
The many gods of India

Offerings

Praying beads madness

A temple

Streets of pushkar

I spy a cow!

Dinner at sixth sense with the peeps

And the last one and one of my favorites... A tuktuk! With 9 Indian women in it!! (We only ride tuk tuks. In groups of 3 max!)
